The increasing frequency, intensity and duration of extreme weather events, worsened by climate change, demands critical and proactive citizens who can protect themselves and promote similar attitudes in society. These socio-scientific issues require an interdisciplinary approach, considering both scientific and social aspects. Secondary education is key to raising awareness and preparing students for these events. Within the framework of the project "The Nature of STEM for Citizenship Education," a didactic sequence was designed and validated in real classroom settings. It is structured into six blocks: extreme weather events, observation and prediction, modeling in science and meteorology, forecasting, complex systems, and nowcasting. This approach helps students understand the nature of science and its exemplification with meteorology, allowing flexibility for adaptation to different educational contexts
